Random thoughts: keeping a tab on your finances, but what about yourself

We usually keep a close tap on our finances.

Although I no longer update my expenses everyday, I used to do that. Although I proclaim to be a long term value investor, I look at the SGX to check the prices of my counters at least 3 times a day.

I read a lot of finance news everyday, Hellenics shipping news, valuebuddies, bloomberg, Nextinsight, and the aggregate of fiancé blog, Singapore finance almost everyday.

I think about how to do my work better every morning, I reflect on the quality of my work after every "projects".

I forget to reflect on myself everyday. What are the negative thoughts or deeds of the day, what are some of the things I could have done differently, have I strive to be the person I want to be, happy to be, or did I took the easy path to hide in the dark.

I left is to random pockets of time for reflection. If we leave it to random opportunities to buy a stock or save money, we would surely frown? So money is more important than ourselves?

  1. Silly investor,

    Not easy right?

Without understanding who we are, how do we know what we really need?

We know that hollow feeling getting something we thought we always wanted, only to realise it not what we need.

It's what others wanted us to have...

  2. SMOL,

Who we really are, in itself is a never ending search.

We are our experiences shaped by our reflections and decisions. It is a dynamic interaction of internal and external factors, influencing one and another, filtering one and other and denial and acceptance of ones's experiences as one.

If we think deeper to even the filters of experiences, the coincidence of experiences over a long period of time, the self become clear and also unimportant at the same time.

I am not sure if u understand, because I dun really either ... 😜

  3. Can we really separate others from us? Of course we never live in others shadows.

But others are the experience that are the raw materials that determine the self. The filter of experiences might be different, hence everyone is different. Self and others are all but one fluid process

  4. Today I am in the mud.

I can't help but be stained by my surroundings.

One day I will break-out and bloom into the lotus flower.

I just killed a mosquito in glee this morning, At this rate, I don't think I'll break-out anytime soon :(

    LOL!

  5. SMOL,

    I know what u mean.

I am a filter of my experiences.

If that filter is a membrane of reverse osmosis technology, no only can he blossom! He can turn sea water/ sewer water into drinking water!

What kind of filter am I and u? Only time can tell.

  6. Those forgot to reflect everyday, it's human nature. We can try to do as much good as we can everyday. Let's not be too hard on our own self.

Watching the stock prices more than once each day is a personal choice. No right or wrong here.

  7. It's not hard to reflect everything, it is just conveniently forgotten until
Something hits and u realised the problem is deeper than u thought.

But everyone has different build, so does it subconsciously. And there is no wrong and right, it is a personal choice
