Random thoughts: 2015 has passed, what I hope to achieve in 2016

2015 has not been an easy year for me.

In 2016, I want to set myself several challenges, and  I hope by putting it down in words, I remembered it and and can review it  year later.

1) Have at least 15 minutes or longer Jogs at least 52 times
(Once a week, I will allow myself to cheat by jogging twice a week at the second half of the year to cover quota. LOL. Hopefully at least I keep jogging and do much better than 52)
2) Not use the lift in school
3) Cut down on breakfast at hawker centers before work. (not more than once a week)

1) To reduce anxiety (Not giving a SMART goal for obvious reasons)

1) Bring back the habit of reading to son before "to each his own reading"
2) Practice mindfulness, dun bring back baggage of  work.
3) Bring my parents for walks more often.
4) No using of phones to blog or play games during visits (bo liao right, should be talking to them more)
5) Meet with old colleagues, friends and bloggers.

1) Bring back the mental habit of "wishing everyone well" at the start of the day.
2) Practice/try mediation

1) Focus on human capital rather than finance/investible capital. Build up competencies by preparing for lessons earnestly and start doing literature review and research.
2) Read more on work related information
3) Stop comparing "money, assets, or networth"

What has passed has passed. The future is just a bubble until it becomes "current"

2016 vision statement:

  1. All the best to you!
Merry Xmas and happy new year!

    1. Merry Christmas Yeh!

Think I will spend my Christmas Eve in hospital. Doing a scope. My gastric keep giving me prob

  2. Very nice! I love ur running goals.. Maybe I should put it as mine too haha! Next yr end, aim for 5/5? ;)

    1. Aiyo deleted the wrong my own reply.

Cannot give 5/5 someone will poke.
I give 10/5 I intend to double my quota run twice every week lol

Have read more than 50 I think, if I include my readings to my boy.

Will check up your book list

  3. Sillyinvestor,

    1) Thanks goodness you still have the presence of mind to know you don't put a goal on reducing anxiety! OK, give you 1 gold star :)

    2) How difficult is it to pick your own book list to read? Don't compare money and asset, but still want to compare and copy book list? Take away 1 gold star.

    3) Must give you encouragement. It's a good start with the anxiety bit.
Run with what you have. And if you get stuck or feel discouraged, open this pouch:

    Feel like running; run.
    Feel like reading; read.

Just go with the flow. Don't think; just do.

Next check anxiety level even though you have done nothing with it ;)

Ahem. That will be one drink.

    1. Friend, u bad Cher lei...

Where got people give 1 star and take away 1 star then says I encourage u hor...

Feel like running, run ... Then it will 5 times a year then LOL

DRINK, sure thing. When the next blue moon comes ... Ok. Use the blue moon to meet other wolves, oops I mean wonderful people too lol

  4. Seemed like u are in a depression. Takes one to know one. Be careful don't spiral down.

    1. Siew Mun,

I did wonder if I am having depression?

Think when the time comes, manage it accordingly ... What happen when it spiral downwards?

  5. Gets darker day by day. You see black all the time. Doom and gloom around you. Still have to put on a happy face. Sunshine on the outside but dark inside.

    1. Hmm... Siew Mun,

So how u got out? I do see life as "suffering" more and more but I also have momentarily bursts of bright sparks ... Also when I low, j really quite low inside and outside ...

    2. Exercise really exercise until I sweat profusely. For me is climb 16 floors x 4 times stairs, 10 push ups will waiting for lift to come up. Rest while the lift brings you down.Exercise is my salvation. Sunshine on the outside cos I put on a smiling face not to worry my love ones. i have ups and downs as well. Many a times i prefer to be alone in my shell.

    3. I see, siew Mun

It is internally overcome. Not sure exercise works for me though.

U are a strong man now.

    4. Yes exercising regularly does help (even if its brisk walk of moderate intensity for 30 mins). You don't have to push yourself to the brink of heavy panting / gonna KO liao. The workout will stimulate hormone production to help you relax but its only temporary and will manage your symptoms rather than the root cause(s). Maybe you might want to consider speaking to a therapist / counselor ? Having a 3rd party independent listening ear should help alot.

      Take care

    5. Hi Philip,

Thanks for dropping by. I did find several listening years and reading eyes (whatsapp messages) this holiday to pour my "sorrows"

Therapist? I had a very bad experince with one many years back. Keep asking me if I need a letter for court case... Dun feel "care" but a transaction of my money in exchange from legal woes

Decided to steer clear of them

    6. Hi SI

try weights training, really helps to destress and builds muscle .

    7. Er...
Thanks STI, didn't know so many bloggers siao on exercise... I lived with my in laws, space is really constraint, if I buy thumb bell then...

I might get chase out of the house ...

  6. Hi SI

I like your non-financial focus of goals in 2016.

I think you'll come out much greater putting these than numbers in focus.

    1. Thanks B.

Merry Christmas. Congrats on your various milestones reached. I seriously think another 12 years or so, FI is a choice for u. Since there will be a bull bear bull then, and will your "size" I hope u bully the bear and accelerate your FI dream

  7. Sounds like you are at life reflection junction which is good. It's good to view in a less materialistic way. Hope you have a peaceful and joyous year ahead. ~Trueblack
